Jotham Kambagira, Acting Director

Jotham KambagiraJotham was born on 29 June 1966 in Kebisou, Rubungiri District.  He was the 4th born in a family of 6 boys and 2 girls.  His father died when he was in Senior 6 and his mother is still alive.

His education started in a church primary school and then in Kazo School.  In 1981 he started at Ntare School in Mbarara where he completed his O and A levels.  In 1987, Jotham went to Makerere University, Kampala to do a Social Science Degree (BASS), studying Economics and Social Administration.  Following graduation in 1990, Jotham did a postgraduate Education Diploma studying Economics and Commerce.  He then commenced a Masters degree in Population Studies – full time study for 2 years, followed by a year when he was completing his dissertation while at the same time working for the Diocese of East Ankole.

In 2000, following 8 years working as the Deputy Manager of a Productive Health project, the funding for the project came to an end and Jotham applied for other jobs.  He had the possibility of a well paid job, but in October 2001, the Lord opened the door for him to come to Rushere Hospital as the Administrative Secretary, and he has now been here for 6 years.  Since the retirement of Joan Hall, he has been Acting Director.

Jotham was brought up in a home where he attended church regularly and he was considered to be a good boy and was thought by many to be saved.  However, Jotham knew that he did not have peace with God.  When he was in senior 6, he was deeply troubled for four days when he knew that God was speaking to him.  He eventually gave in and accepted the Lord as his saviour.

Jotham knows that God has helped him in many ways, helping him to stand firm as a Christian in his position of authority.

On 21st December 1996, Jotham married Mabel.  They have a family of four girls and one boy, and live in the grounds of the hospital.

Jotham’s vision of the hospital is that is will grow and become a training school for nurses and midwives, and will be able to cater for all the basic medical needs of the area.  He would also desire the hospital to be able to offer adequate accommodation for staff and for the water supply of the hospital to be adequate.

Jotham’s prayer requests for the hospital are that the proposed Children’s ward will be built, that staff will have adequate accommodation and that all the staff will become committed Christians.

His personal prayer request is that God will bless them as a Christian family and that as parents, he and Mabel will help their children to grow spiritually.
