George was born in Busoga, in Kamuli District, in a family of 6 girls and 7 boys, of whom 3 have died. He attended local primary and secondary schools up to Senior 2 when he left to train as an electrician at Lugogo Industrial Institute in Kampala. George then worked in various places in Kampala and Jinja.
George says that alcohol became a problem for him and his spare time was spent with drinking companions in bars. However he was able to put on a respectable front and had positions of responsibility in the church he attended - St. Peter's, Namulesa. He was a zone leader and an auctioneer for the goods people brought to the church as offerings instead of money.
Some Christians realised that things were not right in his life and urged him to put things right with God. However George did not accept this and argued with them. In 1997 there was a Church of Uganda mission at St. Peter's and God spoke to George. He knew he needed to repent and he confessed to God that he was a sinner. He also knew that he needed to ask forgiveness of Christians he had provoked and offended.
George found the first few weeks as a new Christian difficult - he felt lonely and isolated. He missed the company of his former drinking partners who tried to pull him back into his old ways. However God gave him strength as he prayed and he continued to walk with Him.

A few years later he met his wife Irene through fellowship meetings in the area and they married on 6 December 2003 before moving to Rushere Hospital, where Irene had been appointed as Sister in Charge. George found work at the hospital as an electrician and in 2006 he also took on the role of Hospital Chaplain. He is responsible for organising the hospital services which at present take place in the Outpatient Department.
There are Morning Prayers daily at 8.00 am with a Sunday Service at 9 am. George also visits the wards to talk to and pray with patients.
Irene and George live in rented accommodation in Rushere town and worship at the Cathedral on Sunday. George enjoys church music and watching T.V. when he has the chance. He is a supporter of Chelsea and was very disappointed when they lost to Manchester United in Moscow in May.
George asks for prayer for:
- more committed Christians to come to work at the hospital
- funds to improve facilities at the hospital
- income to increase low staff salaries
